Once-daily oral semaglutide 25 mg, with a cardiovascular risk-reduction indication; $149/month self-pay to start.
The FDA approved Novo Nordisk’s once-daily Wegovy pill (oral semaglutide 25 mg) on December 22, 2025 — the first oral GLP-1 medicine for obesity in the US. The approval also covers reducing the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events. In the OASIS 4 trial, patients lost about 14% of body weight vs 2% on placebo regardless of adherence (about 17% vs 3% if they stayed on treatment). Novo planned an early-January 2026 launch at $149/month self-pay for the 1.5 mg starting dose.
