SURPASS-2 randomized 1,879 adults with type 2 diabetes inadequately controlled on metformin to tirzepatide 5, 10, or 15 mg or semaglutide 1 mg weekly for 40 weeks. A1C reductions: 2.01-2.30% with tirzepatide vs 1.86% with semaglutide. Tirzepatide superior at all doses in head-to-head comparison. NEJM 2021.
